A handful of events in south Mississippi each year bring us the kind of national exposure we thirst for. One of those events is this week. Instead of focusing on oil spill damage, or Katrina's catastrophe, TV cameras will shine brightly on a gorgeous puerto rico resorts golf course, and our southern hospitality.You may not be a golf fan. You may never watch the Golf Channel. But millions of people do. And later this week, they'll see the stars of yesteryear tee it up at Fallen Oak in the second Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic.I hope you realize thousands of hours of planning have gone into this tournament. And now an army of volunteers is ready to welcome golf's biggest names from Scottish Victory In Orlando the past to one of south Mississippi's most beautiful golf layouts.Last year, David Eger won the inaugural Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic in the rain. Our hope is that Mother Nature cooperates this year. After everything we've been through, our community deserves to sparkle in the national spotlight.

At three down I didn't have a choice, I had to make birdies - Steve was playing so well and he wasn't going to drop all the way back to where I was.England's Justin Rose produced a stunning back nine to reach six under, birdying 10 before holing a wonderful 25-foot eagle putt at the 12th. Levin on verge of a breakthrough

The Golf Channel compound is located just off the second tee so when co-leader at the time, Spencer Levin’s group – which also included Steve Marino and Peter Hanson – made their way to the tee, I scooted out to watch, joining a dozen people in the gallery. “There’s no one out here! They’re all watching the big cat,” said Marino’s younger brother Scott.That didn’t seem to faze either Levin or Marino. It’s a comfortable pairing for the two who are each looking for puerto rico resorts their first victory on the PGA Tour. This is the first time they have played together competitively and both were pumped up when tee times came out on Tuesday. They’re good friends off the course. In fact, Levin stayed at Marino’s home in Tequesta during the Honda Classic. Through the fifth hole Levin picked up two birdies and went on to end the day with the solo lead after a 66. Levin’s physique and game are so different from the group of the big guns attracting the pre-round hype, but he knows what works for him and he manages to find a way to scratch things out and get it done on the course.

It’s not typical to see a 26-year-old using a belly putter, but Levin doesn’t bat an eye these days.He tried it out in Las Vegas where during practice, even Confident Biershenk With His Golf Play before and after his competitive rounds; he would use the belly putter, and then putt with his traditional putter during the round. He then took a few weeks off and continued to practice and get used to the belly putter before putting it into play at Disney, where he tied for third.

Tiger Woods, a six-time Bay Hill champion, returns to the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard for the first time since he won the tournament in 2009. On Thursday and Friday, Woods will be in a featured group with fellow ‘big hitters’ Dustin Johnson and Gary Woodland, who won last week’s Transitions Championship. Golf Channel is consolidating its corporate headquarters from multiple sites into one location, and expanding to 123,000 square feet at Sand Lake West Business Park. The TV broadcaster is also embarking on a two-year renovation to refresh the facilities.Jason Schrago, a principal in the brokerage services division of CNL Commercial Real Estate, an affiliate of CNL Financial Group, represented Golf Channel. At the end of the day the network decided to stay in its current location and expand from there.”CNL Commercial Real Estate is managing the renovation of Golf Channel’s building, which will be completed by Fall 2012. The network plans to add an employee fitness center as well as a covered walkway connecting the two buildings. Golf Channel also has the option to construct a 10,000 square foot building in between the two existing structures, to connect the campus and serve as a grand entryway.

Former college basketball player earns first PGA Tour win

Perhaps it was only fitting that his biggest shot Sunday at the Transitions Championship in Palm Harbor, Fla., came with his putter. LPGA Announces Television Package tour

The LPGA and Golf Channel have announced a 2011 television schedule that features a minimum of 45 days of tournament coverage.Much of that puerto rico resorts coverage will be live, including live coverage of two of the tour’s four major championships, the Kraft Nabisco March 31-April 3 and the Wegmans LPGA Championship from June 23-26.The new package begins an increase in live exposure for the LPGA. Last year a number of events were shown on a same-day deal basis. “As our relationship with Golf Channel continues to grow, we are pleased to increase our tournament coverage and showcase the talent and personalities of the LPGA’s global Japanese golf player keeps hope for national people stars,” said Jon Podany, LPGA Chief Marketing Officer. “Our telecasts will continue to feature unique elements and news coverage will emphasize our players outside the ropes.”

Wildfire Golf Club prepares for LPGA tournament

The ladies are just a few days away from teeing up for the 54-hole RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup at JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort.A field of 132 golfers from all over the country will be playing this weekend. Dozens of players have already puerto rico resorts arrived, but crews are still hard at work to make sure everything is shipshape. Tess Rafols learned exactly what goes in to getting a golf course ready for a tournament like this when she talked to John Wright, the director of Golf at the Wildfire Golf Club in Phoenix, Tuesday morning."We've been working on the event for about nine weeks now," he said.A team of 36 is working on the grounds practically around the clock."The guys get here at 5 in the morning and work all day," Wright said. "We get them back Nick Watney Wants To Win Golf’s Championship out here in the afternoon and they do everything all over again."The RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup, which is returning to the Valley after a year off, is March 18-20. "Hopefully, it will be a permanent stop on the LPGA tour," Wright said.
