Kaymer is actually the second German player to reach golf’s apex. Two-time Masters champion Bernhard Langer climbed to No. 1 in 1986.Gary Koch, analyst for NBC and Golf Channel, doesn’t think it’s a coincidence.“He reminds me so much of Langer, with almost the same mentality on the golf course. he just doesn’t show any emotion. And, no disrespect to Langer, but Kaymer has more talent. He’s certainly the better putter.”Kaymer is already the betting favorite at the Masters, as well as this week. But he’s looking for more than that after his meteoric rise in the last year.“A lot of people ask me, so you must be the happiest person in the world now,” he said. “And I said, ‘yeah, I’m happy and I’m satisfied but there’s still something missing,’” he confided.
